During the Lenten Season, Our Lady of the Valley School participated in a service project, which their late principal, Sister Caroline Vasquez, wished to have students be involved in. Sister Caroline had wanted students to do something for the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of the Valley Church. It was finally decided, while she was out due to her illness, that students would participate in a ?“Pounds for the Poor?” project. Students would try to collect 500 pounds of food for the St. Vincent de Paul Society before Easter. The project ran for about two weeks and 267 pounds of food were collected. This was short of the school's goal but the St. Vincent de Paul Society was very appreciative of the students' efforts. Sister Caroline would be proud of her school.
In addition to being involved in service projects, Our Lady of the Valley School will be having 20 students receiving the sacrament of First Holy Communion Saturday, May 5. An upcoming graduation of 32 students from the 8th grade will be held Friday, May 18.
Registration continues at the school with openings in all grades. If you have any questions, please feel free to call 859-6448 or look for information on the school website at www.olvschoolep.org.
