Every Jan. 22, the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe vs. Wade, people reflect on diverse life issues. The United States Bishops invite Catholics to some type of action in recognizing the date; this includes, speaking out, reaching out, marching, educating, and/or reflecting on life issues.
The Walk for Life Committee would like to invite you to join us Jan. 22, 2012 for the annual “Walk for Life” celebration which will be held at El Paso High School stadium. It is an opportunity for us to stand firm in our convictions, with our Church's teachings, “life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception.” (GS n.51) We are called to support human life at all stages. .
Bishop Armando X. Ochoa will preside at our ecumenical gathering and procession for life and Eucharistic Celebration. As we gather this day may we hear the Gospel message “every person bears God's image and has an immortal soul. With hearts so transformed we can become living witnesses to the meaning of Jesus' mission: I came that all might have life, and have it to the full!” .
This year we encourage all youth to wear their school uniform, sports uniform (volleyball, football, basketball, or cheerleader uniform). Adults from parish ministries, ACTS community, Catholic Daughters, Knights of Columbus, and Squires are encouraged to wear their shirts or vests. You may also bring your church banner or pro life banner/poster of an appropriate nature for our procession and Mass. .
The schedule for the day includes 1 p.m. Praise & Worship; 1:30 Keynote Speakers; 2:30 Procession; 3Mass with Bishop Armando Ochoa at the stadium.
If you have questions or would like more information please contact the Walk for Life Committee: Diana Bulko at 872-8401, Veronica Rayas at 872-8432, or Norma Valdez at 872-8410. .
