Saul Pacheco to be ordained transitional deacon in Pecos on feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Bishop Armando X. Ochoa will ordain Saul Pacheco to the order of transitional deacon during a Mass at 7 p.m., Dec. 12 in Santa Rosa de Lima Parish Church in Pecos.
Transitional deacon is the final step in preparation for ordination to the priesthood.
Son of Rodolfo and Ampara Pacheco, Pacheco is completing his studies at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio.
A reception will follow the ordination Mass.
Sister Josepha Dwyer, ASC, dies at age 76
Sister Josepha Dwyer, ASC, died at the Sierra Medical Center Aug. 8.
She was 76 years of age and a professed Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 56 years.
She entered the Adorers on Dec. 4, 1950, making her first profession of vows in July 1952. She received her bachelor of science in education from Sacred Heart College in 1963.
Sister Josepha's service to the People of God took her into the teaching ministry in elementary schools of Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico. In Texas and New Mexico she served in parish ministry, pastoral care services, social work, director of religious education, and as assistant in Vocation Ministry for the Diocese of El Paso. In 1993 she was given time off from public ministries to engage in writing books for children, and to continue writing poetry.
Sister Josepha's giftedness in working with Hispanic people in the Southwest spoke of Christ's command, “Love one another,” serving all with care.
Although plagued with respiration problems all her life, she did not allow health conditions to limit her choice of climate and involvement with others.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Adorers’ center in Wichita, Kansas.
Burial in the community cemetery followed.
Former pastor dies at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish
Father Andres Ponso of the Order of Servites of Mary died Aug. 16 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.
Father Ponso was former pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows and continued in residence at the parish until his death.
Vigil and Mass of Christian Burial for Father Ponso were at Our Lady of Sorrows.
Internment was at Mount Carmel Cemetery
