About Us
The Rio Grande Catholic was founded in 1991 by Bishop Raymundo J. Peña under the leadership of Communications Director, Rev. Pedro Briseño, and Editor in Chief Stephen Stewart. The Rio Grande Catholic ran its inaugural edition in May 1991.
In 1996, Rev. Raul Trigueros was appointed the communications director and in 1997 named Andy Sparke as the second Editor-in-chief of the Rio Grande Catholic.
In 2015, Elizabeth O'Hara was named Communications Director and the third Editor-in-Chief of the Rio Grande Catholic and served for 2 years.
In 2017, Nancy Ramos was named Communications Director and the fourth Editor-in-Chief of the Rio Grande Catholic and served as its editor until October 2018.
In February of 2019, The Most Rev. Mark J. Seitz appointed Communications Director Fernie Ceniceros as the fifth and the current Editor of the Rio Grande Catholic.
The Rio Grande Catholic has a monthly publication and is the official Newspaper for the Catholic Diocese of El Paso. The Rio Grande Catholic will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2021.
